Model Eligibility

Model must be the S1D racer. No other aircraft is eligible for this class.

Fuselage

The fuselage supplied with the kit must remain unchanged. No modifications are permitted. Engine must remain completely exposed, any form of cowling or streamlining is prohibited.

Tail

Fin must remain unchanged. Horizontal tail is to be made from 6.4mm balsa. It must remain this thickness with the exception of a rounded leading edge and a tapered elevator.

Wing

Wing must use foam cores supplied with the kit. Cores must remain unchanged. Wing thickness must be a minimum thickness of 42mm for 1190mm of the wingspan. Wing span must be a minimum of 1210mm.

Weight

Weight less fuel, but including all equipment necessary for flight shall be at least 2000 grams.

Fuel

Non nitro fuels only permitted. Standard 4:1 methanol / castor fuel will be provided by the race organiser.

Motor

Any front induction, side exhaust motor of a capacity not greater than 7.6cc not exceeding 1.5 advertised horsepower, and fitted with a working carburettor and exhaust muffler as provided by the manufacturer of that particular motor.

Propeller

Propeller must be a BOLLY CLUBMAN 10.5 x 6.

Flying Procedures

Up to 4 models per heat with starting and scoring procedure as per F3D. Note the motor need not be running at the landing stages of flight. The racing course will be the standard 320 metre course as per Q.midget and 1/2A.
